The Origin Story
In January 2023, I had one of those sleepless nights where the first line of a children's book I've been longing to write came through me, Elizabeth Gilbert Big Magic-style. I stayed up until dawn writing the first draft of the story. I immediately knew I wanted Katie Rodgers to illustrate it and bring my words to life.
Over the next two years, we poured our hearts and souls into this collaboration, and we finally finished the book a few weeks before I gave birth to my son Forrest in August of 2024. Katie joked that I would give birth to a baby and this book at the same time — and she was right!
The Light in You is an offering—a devotion—to children and the grown-ups who love them. It is a reminder that our inner Light—our soul, our spirit, our truest self—is who we truly are. And because that Light lives within us, we already carry everything we need to navigate this journey of life.
Earth and Air Publishing is named for my children: Forrest (Earth) and Aria (Air). They are, in so many ways, the inspiration behind this book—and the reminder of the light that lives within each of us.

A mother of two littles who believes in big love, deep connection, and the magic in ordinary moments.
Through years of teaching and practicing yoga and mindfulness, Eva developed a deep trust in the wisdom of the heart — and a wish to help others find their own inner light. The Light in You began as the words she wanted her children to carry with them long after bedtime.
A lifelong spiritual seeker, she writes from the belief that we are all beings of love on a human journey, and that each day is a small miracle. Eva lives in Pittsburgh with her family, usually with a matcha in hand.

An artist known for her imaginative play with the natural world.
Finding inspiration in nature, gardening, and her love for adventure and travel, Katie has created work for world-renowned brands that often dances to life with an ethereal, dreamlike vision.
She works primarily in pastel and watercolour and is currently based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Every spread in The Light in You is an original painting hand-done with watercolor, pastel, and goauche.
